The Magic of PWM (Pulse Width Modulation)

An H-Bridge is a circuit that can drive current in either polarity. But to control speed safely, we use Pulse Width Modulation (PWM). Imagine a motor’s brush as a water wheel, and electrons as the flowing water. If you apply a constant heavy voltage, the wheel spins violently and can damage the motor.

Instead, PWM hits the “water wheel” with electronic pulses at a constant flow. The longer the pulses, the faster the wheel turns. The shorter the pulses, the slower it turns. By using the L298N with PWM, your motors will last much longer and be far more reliable!
